Brahmastra: Powerful than BrahMos, will destroy the enemy's air defense zone without penetrating

Bengaluru

DRDO is upgrading Saaw, which will make its range more than double. It will be integrated into Rafael and SU-30MKI, which will increase their strength considerably.

India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has taken a step towards upgrading its indigenous smart anti-airfield Weapon (SAAW) to a new jet-initiative variant. The version is being developed as a mini air-laid cruise missile from a princely glide bomb, whose abilities will be more than the current model. This project is considered to be a major achievement in the field of India's advanced prohibition strike technology and is another strong step towards self -sufficiency in the defense system as per self -sufficient India initiative. In some ways it is more dangerous than the BrahMos cruise missile.

The new variant will be installed in the compact turbojet engine and integrated fuel tank, so that this weapon will go beyond the gravity-based glide and operate through the propulsion itself in the entire flight. Its firepower will increase from 100 kilometers to more than 200 kilometers. The increased range will help the Indian Air Force to target the enemy's air defense zone from a safe distance without entering. The length of this variant will be around 2.5 meters, which is longer than the current 1.8 meter Saaw. The engine and fuel system will be fitted in additional size, while aerodynamic efficiency will be retained.

Advanced Guidance and Iir Sikar

The new edition of SAAW will use Advanced Electro-Optical (EO) Sikar and Imaging Infrared (IIR) technology, which will provide 'fire-end-Fargate' capacity. This means that after launching the weapon, we will find the target itself and will accurately attack. The IIR Sikar will give more accuracy than the existing satellite and the invention navigation system, which will also be effective on day and night, bad weather and mobile targets. DRDO has also successfully used this technique in the Nag Anti-Tank missile and air defense system. With this technique, weapon accuracy (CEP) will be less than three meters.
Multi-platform capacity

Jet-Powered Saaw will be integrated on several Air Force platforms including Sukhoi-30 MKI, Rafael. Sukhoi-30 MKI will be the primary launch platform, which can carry several saaws simultaneously through the indigenous smart quad rack system. This will make it possible to attack the enemy's airfields, runways, radars and other important locations simultaneously. Due to the range of more than 200 kilometers, the launching aircraft will mostly be out of the reach of surface -to -air missiles (SAM), which will increase the safety of pilots and aircraft.
Strategic importance

This development will strengthen the goal of self -sufficiency in India's defense technology and reduce dependence on foreign weapons. Also, this weapon will be able to neutralize the enemy's air power in the initial stage, which can affect the result of any future air campaign.
Testing and future

The trial of the new variants is likely to be done by the end of the year 2025, which will examine the range, accuracy and reliability in different seasons and day-night circumstances. Its production will start after successful testing. With this development, India will be included in the category of select countries that have advanced air-long cruise missile technology, and DRDO will get further strengthened as a world-class defense technology developer.
